415 UOG students will sit for supplementary exams

Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Goroka (UOG) Dr. Matthew Landu says 415 students who were unable to complete their examinations due to various personal or technical circumstances will sit for supplementary exams on February 2-6, 2026.

This accounts of 5 percent of the total student enrollment.

The university has made inclusive provisions for these students to sit supplementary exams due to the problem last year, said Dr Landu.  Read full story here: https://www.thepngsun.com/rapa-mobilizes-rescue-convoy-for-uog-students/

According to a local media report yesterday, “Dr. Landu said 8,134 examinations were successfully completed, representing a completion rate of 95 percent, a clear demonstration of resilience, strategic coordination, and institutional agility in the face of considerable infrastructure and connectivity limitations.”

The University of Goroka, its academic year 2026, begins today, said Dr. Landu.

He urged all UOG staff, students, parents, and sponsors to take note of the schedule for the start of the university academic year 2026.

The academic schedule includes:

■The academic year begins on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

■Supplementary exams for students who missed out on November, 2025, exams are to be held on February 2-6.

■Academic senate to endorse assessment for final year students and year one to three.
■Registration for year one students on February 16-20.

■Orientation, registration, and in-service for year one, two, three, and postgraduate students on February 23-27.

■Week one lectures start on March 2.

■Graduation on April 2026.

He said that the 2026 academic year is not the 2025 academic year.

Students must abide by the university’s bylaws and be focused on their academic studies, he said.
