SOHE DDA TO CONTINUE SUPPORTING CHURCHES: AMULI

Sohe MP Henry Jons Amuli has reaffirmed that the church remains the government’s key development partner, and his district administration will continue supporting church projects and programs.
Mr. Amuli made these remarks while witnessing the airlift of building materials from Port Moresby to Awoma on a chartered flight. The materials will be used to construct a pastor’s house under the Koiari Spiritual Development Program.
Under Mr. Amuli’s chairmanship, the Sohe District Development Authority (DDA) has allocated K300,000 to support the program.
Program chairman Taison Abiso described the funding as a first-of-its-kind initiative for the remote Awoma community, emphasizing that they are making good use of the support.
“The building materials we purchased are now being airlifted,” Mr. Abiso said. “We have also acquired a Lucas sawmill from Lae at a cost of K90,000. It is expected to arrive in Port Moresby within the next two weeks before being airlifted to Awoma for community housing and church building projects.”
He added that a major Seventh-day Adventist Church crusade is scheduled to take place in Awoma between December 2025 and January 2026. The construction of the pastor’s residence is part of the preparations for this event.
“We are very grateful to our MP for his leadership and support,” Mr. Abiso said. “We look forward to successfully delivering projects and programs that will benefit the local communities.”
Mr. Amuli reaffirmed his commitment to church support, stating that 10% of Sohe DDA’s annual budget is allocated to churches and will continue under his leadership.
