PM MARAPE PURSUES NATIONAL GROWTH, CLIMATE GOALS ABROAD

Prime Minister James Marape yesterday left the country for an official visit to the United States and United Kingdom. He will be away for 10 days.

During the trip, he will meet with big oil, gas, and mining companies. He will also attend a special meeting on climate change hosted by King Charles III in the UK.

PM Marape said the trip is important for national development. He wants to push forward major resource projects like Papua LNG, P’nyang, and Wafi-Golpu. He also aims to build stronger global support for forest conservation in PNG.

The Prime Minister stressed that the world is moving away from oil and gas. PNG must act now to get the best value from its resources before the market changes.

He said companies like ExxonMobil and TotalEnergies are already working in PNG. The government wants to get better deals for the people.

At the same time, PNG is pushing for global support in protecting forests. PM Marape said the world benefits from PNG’s forests, so there must be fair compensation.

While he is away, Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso will act as Prime Minister. PM Marape assured the country that government work will continue as normal.

He said the ministers will keep delivering services while he is overseas, and he is representing the country to bring in opportunities that will benefit everyone.
