WNB MAN BECOMES FIRST PNG CONTENT CREATOR TO RECEIVE YOUTUBE AWARD

Jimmy Aiawa, who creates content highlighting village life, culture, and commentary, commands 123,000 followers on YouTube.

Aiawa was recognized by YouTube CEO Neal Mohan with a Silver Creator Award for hitting a 100,000-subscriber ceiling.

His story was reported in local media. He said he was feeling excited to receive the award.

He said his next goal is to reach one million subscribers.

YouTubers with 1,000 subscribers in Papua New Guinea have monetized their platforms. They are getting paid from their contents when they reach a minimum of US$100.

Meanwhile, PNG has not been named by Meta (formerly Facebook) under its content monetization program, but other local platforms have been monetized due to their performance.
