K5 million approved to fast-track Wewak District Infrastructure Projects

A significant milestone has been achieved in the East Sepik Province with the approval of K5 million in funding for Wewak district’s infrastructure projects.

The funding submission, made by the Wewak District Development Authority (DDA) and endorsed by Deputy Chairman Robert Jagi Tabel and President Dagua LLG Alois Walsamis, has been approved by the Department of National Planning and Monitoring.

The duo told PNG SUN that the approved funds will be utilized for various district infrastructure projects, including the completion of the new 4-in-1 Wewak District office complex, dubbed Simagun Haus.

This flagship project, under the leadership of Hon. Stanley Muts Samban, is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

“We commend the efforts of our leaders who have worked tirelessly to secure funding for our province,” said a local leader, who did not want to identify himself.

“It’s time for Sepik leaders to put aside politics and focus on developing our province, creating business opportunities, and improving the lives of our people.”
