Kompiam elite praises Minister Kaeok for Kompiam- Wapenamanda road link

A community leader and elite from Kompiam District, Lawrence Talipao, has commended Transport Minister and Wapenamanda MP Hon. Miki Kaeok for delivering the Kompiam–Wapenamanda road link.

He described it as a project that strengthens long-standing historical ties between the two districts.

Mr. Talipao said Kompiam and Wapenamanda share deep-rooted connections built over generations through trade, cultural exchanges, family ties, customary land boundaries, education, health services and church networks.

He noted that many people from Kompiam have traditionally relied on Wapenamanda as a gateway to markets, schools, hospitals and government services.

“This road is more than infrastructure. It reconnects two districts that have always been linked by history, culture and shared livelihoods,” Mr. Talipao said.

He said poor access and difficult terrain had limited interaction and slowed development for decades, despite strong social and economic ties.

Mr. Talipao thanked Minister Kaeok for demonstrating leadership that promotes regional unity.

He also acknowledged contractors, officials, landowners and community members for their support in completing the project.
