Church Elder urges Christians to remain loyal to God amid life’s challenges

A Church Elder has called on Christians to remain faithful and loyal to God despite the many challenges they face in life, reminding believers that unwavering faith brings spiritual reward and hope.

Delivering a Divine Service at the Sogavare Memorial Seventh-day Adventist Church at Gerehu Stage 6 in Port Moresby this morning, Elder Larsen Yambe emphasized that loyalty to God remains central to the Christian journey, especially during times of hardship.

Speaking on the theme “Loyalty,” he highlighted that being steadfast in faith aligns with the Adventist belief in the blessed hope of Jesus Christ’s glorious return.

Drawing from Psalms 86:12, Elder Yambe urged worshippers to praise God wholeheartedly, just as King David declared, “I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart.”

He explained that loyalty is a strong commitment to a person, cause, or God, likening it to a glue that binds believers together even when circumstances become difficult.

Using biblical examples, he referenced the story of Abraham in Genesis 22, where Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son Isaac demonstrated ultimate loyalty and trust in God’s promise.

He also cited Job’s endurance in suffering, noting that despite losing everything, Job remained faithful and refused to turn away from God.

Elder Yambe contrasted these examples with figures such as Judas, Lot’s wife and Jonah, who showed disloyalty, reminding the congregation that knowing God is not enough without true commitment.

He said modern-day challenges-including sickness, financial struggles, family issues, unemployment, and societal pressures-continue to test the loyalty of believers.

However, he encouraged Christians to trust in God’s plan, referencing scriptures such as Proverbs 3:5 and Isaiah 41:10, which call for faith and reliance on divine strength.

Elder Yambe reassured the congregation that God rewards loyalty, pointing to Job’s restoration as evidence of double blessing.

He reminded worshippers that despite present hardships, there is a greater hope awaiting the faithful.

“This message is our hope,” he said.
