Telikom PNG Ltd becomes PNG’s second authorized Starlink reseller in PNG

Telikom PNG Limited has become Papua New Guinea’s second authorized Starlink reseller after Digicel PNG, expanding access to low-earth orbit satellite internet services across the country.

Chief Executive Officer Amos Tepi in a statement announced that the state-owned telecommunications company had secured authorization to resell Starlink services, targeting enterprise customers, government departments and agencies, the mining and resource sector, financial institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises, and existing VSAT customers nationwide.

Mr. Tepi said the partnership would strengthen connectivity in remote and underserved parts of Papua New Guinea while supporting the country’s broader digital transformation agenda through a combination of satellite, fibre, mobile, cloud and managed services.

Through this partnership, Telikom Limited will lead the provision of Starlink services to enterprise customers, government departments and agencies, the mining and resource sector, financial institutions, SMEs, and existing VSAT customers throughout the country.

Mr. Tepi said Telikom remained committed to ensuring reliable and affordable connectivity reached all parts of Papua New Guinea, particularly remote and underserved communities.

Under the arrangement, Telikom will manage local customer engagement, billing, payment collection, installation coordination, customer support, and managed services.

Mr. Tepi described the agreement as a significant milestone in addressing Papua New Guinea’s connectivity challenges across key sectors including education, health, government services, business, and community development.

Mr. Tepi said the new generation of low-earth orbit satellite technology presented major opportunities to transform digital access, strengthen national connectivity resilience, and enable broader economic growth throughout Papua New Guinea.

He said the partnership was not intended to replace existing connectivity platforms but would complement the country’s national connectivity strategy through a combination of fibre, mobile, cloud, VSAT, and satellite technologies.

As part of the rollout, Telikom will provide fully managed integrated solutions bundled with internet services, OTT and digital platforms, mobile connectivity, sovereign AI services, cloud solutions, and enterprise managed services.

Mr. Tepi said Telikom was uniquely positioned to support large-scale deployment and service delivery throughout Papua New Guinea because of its existing infrastructure, nationwide operational capability, enterprise experience, and strategic government partnerships.

He said the partnership also represented an important collaboration between the United States and Papua New Guinea through its state-owned telecommunications provider, creating new opportunities for digital transformation, innovation, and economic development.

Additional information regarding equipment availability, supply chain arrangements, pricing, installation, and service packages will be announced in the coming days.

Mr. Tepi thanked Starlink and its parent company, SpaceX, for their professionalism, collaboration, and commitment in concluding the agreement within weeks of initial discussions.

He also acknowledged the support of the Marape-Rosso Government and Minister for State Enterprises William Duma in facilitating the partnership.

Mr. Tepi said the agreement marked the beginning of a new chapter in digital connectivity for Papua New Guinea.
