Works and Highways Secretary Gibson Holemba has completed the first official journey from Lae to Port Moresby along the Trans National Highway.
Mr. Holemba, accompanied by colleagues and others, travelled more than 300 kilometers from Lae’s 9 Mile Junction to Epo Junction, completing the maiden road trip in about 48 hours before arriving safely in Port Moresby.
He was accompanied by his Morobe and Gulf provincial works colleagues and others on the maiden journey.
Mr. Holemba and the convoy of vehicles were welcomed by Works and Highways Department staff at its headquarters in 4-Mile yesterday.
Prime Minister James Marape is expected to officially open the Lae-Port Moresby route with a road trip in September during the country’s 51st Independence anniversary celebrations.
