Two suspects have been detained at Goroka Police Station over the alleged murder of Marot Keteno on September 16, with police preparing their court files for prosecution.
Eastern Highlands Provincial Police Commander Chief Superintendent Albert Beli in a statement last Thursday, October 1, confirmed that the two suspects had been identified as the main suspects allegedly involved in the killing.

PPC Beli acknowledged the work of police officers in identifying and apprehending the suspects and urged relatives of the deceased not to take the law into their own hands.
He said police had received reports of people planning payback killings but warned against retaliation now that the principal suspects were in police custody.
“If anyone retaliates, they will have blood on their hands and police will go after them,” PPC Beli said.
He said two wrongs did not make a right and urged the family to allow police and the courts to deal with the matter.
“I am calling on the family members of the late deceased to assist the police instead of taking the law into their own hands,” PPC Beli said.
“A wrong has been done, and we must let the law take its course. We must not create another wrong because that will not fix what has happened; it will only lead to bigger problems.”

PPC Beli thanked police officers and community leaders who assisted in bringing forward the main suspects for investigation.
He said the two suspects would remain in police custody and appear in court once their court files were ready.
