Air Niugini opens new sales office in Wewak

Air Niugini has opened a new sales office in Wewak, East Sepik Province, at the newly built Tangmow Plaza in the Centre of the township.

The office was officially opened last week and is intended to improve access to ticketing and travel services for customers in Wewak and surrounding areas.

According to Air Niugini’s statement, the office includes customer service areas, service counters, and updated facilities to handle retail, corporate, government, and group travel bookings.

The office is located near public transport, shops, banks, and the main market.

Air Niugini Chief Executive Officer Alan Milne said the airline had seen an increase in sales since relocating to the new premises, with sales rising by up to 50 percent compared to the same period last year.

Mr. Milne said Wewak remains an important destination for the airline, with two daily flights operating through Boram Airport, including services connecting Port Moresby, Madang, and Vanimo.

He said the airline expects the new office to help meet increasing travel demand in the province.

East Sepik Governor Allan Bird, who officiated at the opening, welcomed the development, saying the new office would improve services for residents and support business activity in the province.

The sales office has been operating for the past month and is open from 8:00am to 5:00pm on weekdays and from 8:00am to 12:00 noon on Saturdays.

The facility is currently staffed by three employees and has up to five service counters for customers.

Air Niugini currently operates direct Port Moresby–Wewak services on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Wednesday and Sunday services also connect through Madang, while the daily afternoon PX140 service continues onward to Vanimo before returning the following morning via Wewak to Port Moresby
