Erton Köhler has been elected as the new president of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventist church during the denomination’s 62nd World Session, held last Friday.
Köhler succeeds Ted N.C. Wilson, who served three consecutive terms since the first being elected in 2010.
Prior to his election, Köhler held the position of General Conference Secretary and brings decades of leadership experience to the role.
He is also well known in Papua New Guinea. In 2024, during the PNG for Christ evangelistic campaign, Köhler preached for over two weeks at Korobosea Seventh-day Adventist Church in Port Moresby, forging strong bonds with the local congregation.
Köhler’s election marks a pivotal moment for the global Adventist Church as it transitions into a new chapter of spiritual growth and global mission.
