From Traditional Parade to Dedication Mass

Madang police formally dedicated their 2026 operations to God today.

It marked a shift from the traditional parade to a dedication mass held at the Holy Spirit Catholic Cathedral.

Madang Provincial Police Commander, Superintendent Robert Baim, said the dedication signified the importance of placing God at the center of policing duties.

The mass was attended by all police sectional heads, Madang Provincial Government Law and Order Chairman Dum Bal, and members of police families.

Superintendent Baim told officers that law and order is “God’s business” and urged them to put God first, followed by family and then work.

He stressed that discipline and responsibility must begin at home, noting that strong families contribute to safer communities.
He called on officers to change their mindset.

PPC Baim continued that restoring public trust, respect, and confidence in the police force was critical amid ongoing law and order challenges in the province.

The PPC also acknowledged former senior police officer Madam Cathy Dobb, one of Papua New Guinea’s pioneer policewomen and the country’s first female Police Station Commander since Independence.
