Hidden Valley Mine launches Train-the-trainer program, first certificates awarded

Two employees at Hidden Valley Mine have become the first to receive certificates under a newly introduced “Train the Trainer” program aimed at strengthening workforce training capacity across the operation.

The mine’s Training Department launched the program to build the capability of internal trainers to assess workplace training needs, develop structured learning materials and deliver instruction focused on improving employee performance and behavioral change.

Joe Koromeng and Gesa Kupa completed the certification, marking the first successful graduates of the program, which forms part of ongoing efforts to improve training standards across all departments at the mine.

The mining company said in a statement that the program aims to provide trainers across multiple fields with essential skills to identify employee training requirements, develop targeted educational content, and deliver effective instruction focused on behavioral change in the workplace.

Joe Koromeng and Gesa Kupa became the first two trainers to successfully complete the certification program, marking an important milestone for the mine’s training initiative.

The comprehensive course covers ten key areas:

1. Understanding training cycles and processes

2. Implementing Training Needs Analysis (TNA) tools to identify team requirements

3. Designing user-friendly training materials and programs that drive behavioral change

4. Developing competency-based training (CBT) assessments and procedures

5. Building essential training and development skills for team management

6. Creating engaging, interactive learning environments

7. Selecting appropriate training delivery methods

8. Developing visual aids and supporting materials

9. Creating lesson plans that accommodate different learning styles

10. Evaluating training effectiveness and measuring results

The initiative reflects Harmony’s ongoing commitment to building employee capabilities and strengthening its workforce development programs.

This investment in trainer development represents a strategic approach to improving overall training quality and ensuring consistent, effective education across all departments at Hidden Valley Mine.
