The International Training Institute (ITI) has reaffirmed its commitment to producing job-ready graduates by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Asia Pacific Communication Specialists (APCS) to facilitate industrial training for its IT students.
On Wednesday (August 5), ITI signed the MoU with APCS at the latter’s office in Port Moresby.
The event was witnessed by representatives from both organizations.
The agreement is to provide practical industry training opportunities for Diploma in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) students over 12 weeks with APCS as part of the job training program.
This partnership is aimed at bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry requirements by giving ITI PNG ICT students hands-on experience and exposure to real-world telecommunications and ICT projects.
Under the MoU signed, APCS will work with ITI PNG to facilitate on-the-job training (OJT), mentorship, and potential employment pathways for graduates.
The 12-week program will begin at the end of this month, and selected students will be placed directly with APCS project teams.
ITI PNG Chairman and Co-Founder Senthil Kumaran Sentheyval said the agreement reflects ITI’s commitment to producing job-ready graduates.
“We are trying to sign as many MoUs as we can to engage all our students,” Mr. Sentheyval said.
“We want to help the students to get OJT experience, so their CVs carry weight when applying for jobs.”
He noted that companies today look for more than just qualifications.
“Companies don’t just look for qualifications. They want the right attitude and manners that help the company grow. So, we also train students on punctuality, public speaking, and other skills,” he said.
APCS Managing Director Keith Anderson welcomed the partnership and said APCS is committed to supporting the development of PNG’s next generation of ICT professionals.
ITI PNG has in recent months also signed similar MoUs with other companies and government agencies, including Daltron and the Department of Information and Communication Technology, as part of its drive to strengthen workforce development and graduate employability.
