The second AI Summit, which will start this Friday at the Stanley Hotel in Port Moresby, has attracted 400 attendees and 19 local and international speakers.
It will be hosted by the International Training Institute (ITI). It is aimed at providing both awareness and practical insights into artificial intelligence.

It is a one-day event with the 19 speakers, both the international and local experts with the 400 registered members of participation.
In a media conference today, ITI Chairman and co-founder Mr. Senthil Kumaran Sentheyval said the summit’s goal is to increase awareness about AI and its implications.
“We realized AI is coming, and nobody can stop it. People of PNG need to be aware of what’s happening,” he told local media.
He added that last year’s event at Crown Hotel demonstrated strong public interest, paving the way for this year’s broader program.
This year, the summit is bigger, with more expert speakers discussing the four main panels:
■Generative AI,
■ AI in Finance,
■AI in Ethics and Governance, and
■AI in Education and Learning
He added that most presentations are panel-based to include more participants. Four people from Australia will join the discussions live.
Co-founder Sentheyval emphasized, AI is still new in PNG, and the summit will provide a forward-looking view of its effects on jobs and skills.
This summit, he said, aims to inform and prepare Papua New Guineans for AI’s impact on jobs, industries, and education.
He added: “It’s about skill upgrades and preparing people for what is coming.”
“With its broad industry participation and practical focus, the AI Summit is poised to make a lasting impact on PNG’s AI landscape.”
He said the sponsors including Digitech as the title sponsor, with Platinum partners Remington, DICT, and Dataco; Gold sponsors Fezios and National; and silver sponsors Sapphire, Kanda, and Newpay.
He also highlighted that bronze sponsors include Kina Bank, PAG Tourism Authority, Virtual Flex, and Newpower.
Giving a sneak peek, he said the Governor-General of Independence State of PNG Sir Bob Dadae and the Secretary for DICT Steven Matainaho will also attend and be speaking at the summit.
The summit also highlights internal AI initiatives, Co-founder Sentheyval said.
“Obviously in the summit also, we’ll let people know what IT has done, not just the summit alone,” Co-founder Sentheyval said on how AI has been integrated into their workplace and student learning.
He noted that next year’s summit will expand into a two-day event on 1st and 2nd April, with more panels and formats with additional sponsors and international speakers.
The summit is gaining recognition in PNG. It aims to reach an international audience through online participation.
“So, this is becoming known in PNG, but we also want to link this up to also people to know internationally as well, where they can see online as well.”
He continued that the AI Summit continues to grow as a platform for awareness, skill development, and discussion of AI’s future in PNG.
