It marked a major step toward improving transparency and public access to environmental information.

Speaking at the event, CEPA Managing Director Jude Tukuliya revealed that the authority had operated without a dedicated website for nearly a decade, following its transition from a government department to a statutory authority.
He said the new digital platform represents a commitment to openness and accountability, providing a centralized hub for key environmental reports, including State of Environment reports, audit findings, and impact statements.
Mr. Tukuliya emphasized that access to reliable, real-time data is critical for effective environmental management, enforcement, and public awareness.
He acknowledged that past institutional barriers limited information sharing but said CEPA is now embracing digital transformation to improve service delivery.
The website, he said, will also enhance visibility of conservation efforts and biodiversity projects while supporting Papua New Guinea’s international commitments, including the Paris Agreement.
“The launch aligns with the Government’s broader digital transformation agenda and the Medium-Term Development Plan, as we modernize how we deliver services and share information,” Mr. Tukuliya said.
“In this artificial intelligence era, websites are no longer optional-they are essential platforms for data access, innovation, and informed decision-making,” he added.
“A strong digital presence ensures we remain transparent, efficient, and connected to our people and global partners.”
Mr. Tukuliya thanked development partners, particularly the European Union, for supporting the initiative, describing the launch as the beginning of a new era in environmental governance.
