Pacific Balanced Fund declares historic K25 million dividend – highest in 53 years

The Pacific Balanced Fund will pay more than K25 million in dividends to its unitholders, the highest payout in its 53-year history since 1973.

Executive Chairman Jordan Paul announced last Thursday, October 8, that the PBF Board of Trustees had approved K0.96 per unit for 2024 and K1.34 per unit for 2025, totaling K2.30 per unit.

The 2024 dividend is worth about K10.44 million, while the 2025 payout is about K14.58 million. Both will be paid by November this year.

Mr. Paul said the record dividend did not happen in isolation. It follows a turnaround since Weathermen Capital Advisors Limited assumed responsibility as Trustee in September 2023.

Net profit after tax grew from K48 million in 2023 to K57 million in 2024 and to approximately K122 million in 2025 – the highest profit ever recorded by the Fund.

Net assets also increased from K676 million in 2023 to K853 million in 2025, a growth of K177 million in two years.

Despite the sharp rise, Mr. Paul said the Board remained conservative, capping the dividend at around 20 percent of cash operating profits to protect the Fund’s future.

“Our responsibility is to create value today without compromising tomorrow,” he said.

He said PBF is truly a national fund. It has more than 23,000 direct unitholders, but with large unitholders like Nasfund, MRDC and the Catholic Church, up to two million Papua New Guineans are direct and indirect beneficiaries.

A formal unitholder meeting will be held on 19 November 2026.
