PM MARAPE ACKNOWLEDGES KRAMER’S RESIGNATION FROM GOV’T

Prime Minister, James  Marape has acknowledged Madang MP, Bryan Kramer’s constribution and service to the government, following his resignation in Port Moresby yesterday.

PM Marape told the media earlier yesterday that “I expressed his gratitude to Madang MP Hon. Bryan Kramer for his dedicated service to the country as a government minister, following Mr. Kramer’s announcement of his resignation from the government.”

PM Marape recommended Hon. Kramer has a valuable contributor to Cabinet. I made an unprecedented move in 2019 of appointing him and Sinasina-Yongomugl MP Kerenga Kua as ministers despite them not voting for me then to become prime minister.

PM Marape told media that based on my belief, “we needed the best talent on board to develop our country as well as fight corruption, I did the unthinkable by drafting Mr. Kramer into Cabinet because of his strong advocacy for anti-corruption and good governance.”

“Something I can’t take away from Mr. Kramer is that he is a strong advocate for good governance and doing the right thing,” PM Marape said.

He added; this country needs leaders who are not infatuated with money or fame but who stand up to do what is right for the country.

MP Marape said, “Hon. Kramer was in Cabinet from 2019 all the way to 2022, when he had to face a Leadership Tribunal. Mr. Kramer understood the magnitude of the task we were faced with in corruption and the restoration of our economy.”

“He was appointed Police Minister to do exactly this, and started the restoration of Police , including the appointment of Commissioner David Manning.”

He added, Hon.  Kramer was then moved to the Department of Justice and Attorney General, where a record number of bills, including the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), were passed. I almost lost the Government in 2020 after the passage of the ICAC Bill.

“Hon. Bryan Kramer spoke to me earlier today, indicating his intentions as a gentleman and a leader. Let us respect his independence and decision. We thank him for his contributions to our country under my watch,” Prime Minister Marape stated.

“I thank Hon. Bryan Kramer for all his contributions to Government as a minister and I look
forward to work with him in areas of common interest, whether it is Madang or national issues. “

Meanwhile, Kramer was seen in the Parliamentary Opposition’s Loloata camp.
