Public servants planning to contest the 2027 National General Election have been advised to resign from their positions no later than 29 October 2026.
The deadline is contained in a new Circular Instruction issued by the Department of Personnel Management (DPM), reminding intending candidates to comply with the legal requirements before nominating for the election.
The directive applies to eligible public servants who wish to enter politics and ensures the public service remains impartial during the lead-up to the 2027 polls.
Secretary Taies Sansan in the circular said anyone considering standing for election is encouraged to familiarize themselves with the circular and make the necessary arrangements before the deadline.
