Step aside if you are under investigation: Sir John to police officers

Sir John Pundari has delivered a strong message to police officers across the country; if you are under investigation or facing allegations, it’s time to step aside.

Speaking during recent visits to Hela and Enga, the Police Minister stressed that officers must earn public trust through their actions, not just the uniform.

He said people should feel safe and protected when they see a police officer, not uncertain or afraid.

Sir John made it clear the uniform must never be used to hide wrongdoing.

He questioned how officers involved in crimes can fairly investigate others, warning that such actions damage the integrity of the force.

He also raised concerns about discipline and appearance, noting officers wearing mixed or incomplete uniforms.

The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving police welfare while restoring professionalism, accountability, and public confidence.
