THERE ARE PUBLIC TOILETS IN NCD

There are two public toilets in Port Moresby with a new facility recently completed at Boroko in Port Moresby.

It is expected to be opened for use.

The old one was demolished with this replacement.

It features parameter fencing, hand basins and 10 toilet compartments- 5 for male while the other 5 for the opposite sex.

With the call made by IRC Commissioner General Sam Koim for more public toilets to be built in towns and cities around the country, PNG SUN was onsite to verify whether there are public toilets available around the city. There are two-the new one at Boroko while the other located at the iconic Ela Beach.

A source from the City Hall said they were addressing the issue holistically when building permits are sought by shops or structures for public use, they ensure public toilets are compulsory in the building designs.

The source said there were couple others located at the former Jack Pidik Park and Erima Recreational Park but were misused to demolition.
