Trukai showcases progress at Erap Commercial Farm during Secretary’s visit

Trukai Industries Limited has marked an important milestone in its local rice production journey, hosting the Secretary for the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, Dr. Sergie Bang, at its Erap Farm in Lae to showcase ongoing progress in commercial rice farming.

The visit provided an opportunity for the Secretary to tour the farm and observe developments since his visit last year.

The tour included Trukai’s seed and germplasm complex, active rice fields currently under harvest, and the site earmarked for future commercial irrigated rice farming.

Trukai General Manager for PNG and Solomon Islands, Mr. Andrew Grace, acknowledged the continued support of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, emphasizing the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing food security.

“It was a productive and inspiring visit, highlighting the real progress we are making in commercial rice production right here in Papua New Guinea.

“Seeing the results of dedicated teamwork, modern farming practices, and strong local investment coming together is truly motivating.”

“A big thank you to Dr. Sergie Bang for his continued support of agricultural development and food security initiatives across PNG.”

“Together, we are building a stronger, more self-sufficient rice industry — from farm to plate. We are proud to contribute to growing PNG’s agriculture sector,” Mr. Grace said in a statement.

The Erap Commercial Farm in Lae remains a key part of Trukai’s long-term vision to expand local rice production and contribute to the nation’s economic growth.
