Wabi Wabi Community Association of PDL 8 Project Area conducts awareness program ahead of official launch

A community awareness program has been conducted across six council wards in the Wabi Wabi Community area of Hayapuga Local Level Government in Hela Province ahead of the official launch of the Wabi Wabi Community Association Inc.

The awareness campaign was led by University of Papua New Guinea student and Wabi Wabi Community Association Inc. Secretary Ryan Solomon during his semester break.

Solomon, a young leader from the Angore PDL 8 Project Area, joined community leaders and residents in carrying out the program throughout the Wabi Wabi region.

The program covered the wards of Habono, Idawi, Teni, Kela Akau, Linapini, and Undupi Angore, with participants engaging local communities on issues affecting the area and the role of the newly established association in promoting development and unity.

The awareness focused on key issues affecting the community, including the improvement of law and order, promotion of peace and reconciliation, strengthening community unity, and supporting basic community development initiatives.

Community members were encouraged to work together to address local challenges and create a peaceful environment that supports sustainable growth and development.

In his presentation, Solomon emphasized that students, community leaders, youth, women, and all residents have a shared responsibility to contribute positively to the future of the community.

He called on residents to support the vision and objectives of the Wabi Wabi Community Association Inc. and actively participate in programs that promote peace, unity, education, leadership, and development.

The awareness program served as a key lead-up activity to the successful launch of the Wabi Wabi Community Association Inc. under the theme, “Restoring Unity and Community Development.”

Organizers said the initiative reflected the collective commitment of the people of Wabi Wabi to work together in building a peaceful, united, and prosperous future for present and future generations.
