190 UPNG students miss out on registration

190 students attending the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) have missed out on registration, according to their Student Representative Council (SRC).

Classes have begun but they are unable to attend it because the registration deadline has lapsed.

SRC President Ephraim Kliwolo told our student journalist on campus that it was taking steps to address it.

Mr. Kliwolo has called on the affected students to submit their reasons for failing to register on time.

The SRC, he said, will use these explanations to support a petition to the Vice Chancellor and university administration, requesting an extension of the registration period.

“The SRC president has advised us to write down our reasons, and he will take it up with the administration,” said Senitha Willie, a final year journalism student awaiting registration.

The proposed extension aims to provide relief to students facing challenges in meeting the initial deadline.

The university administration has not yet commented on the potential extension.

The fate of the students is hanging on the proposed petition. If they have their way, they will be registered.
