PRIVATE BUSINESS COMMITTEE TO VET VONC MOTION AGAIN

The Private Business Committee will again vet the resubmitted motion of No-confidence against the Prime Minister, James Marape filed by the Parliamentary Opposition yesterday afternoon next Wednesday, according to acting Speaker, Koni Iguan.

Making a statement today in Parliament, acting Speaker Iguan confirmed that the Committee met yesterday, saying VoNC motion was the only business listed for its deliberation.

He told Parliament that the Committee was convinced that the motion was of national importance, not of parochial matter.

Iguan continued that everything else was in order except one defect which he did not specify.

Thus, he said the Opposition Leader, Douglas Tomuriesa was advised about it after the meeting.

Tomuriesa and his team, he said, resubmitted the motion after rectifying it.

Meanwhile, Attorney-General Pila Niningi has sought legal interpretations on the VoNC motion so it is before the Supreme Court.

PNG Opposition has indicated that they will mount the VoNC motion again when Parliament sits again on May 28th, 2024.
