RESUBMITTED VONC MOTION NAMES PAITA AS ALTERNATE PM

The motion of Vote-of-No-Confidence, which was resubmitted by the Parliamentary Opposition this afternoon, named decommissioned Finance Minister, Rainbo Paita as the alternate Prime Ministerial candidate.

The motion had its defects rectified and resubmitted to the Office of the Parliament Speaker. Witnessed by Parliament Clerk, Kala Aufa, Speaker Job Pomat received the motion from the Opposition Leader, Douglas Tomuriesa in his Parliament office.

Kala told PNG SUN this evening that the VoNC motion, signed by 12 members of the Opposition, would be deliberated by the Parliament’s Private Business Committee next Wednesday.

He said the motion was filed late at 3:13pm today; thus, the motion was not forwarded to the PBC members for its deliberation.

The previous one with East Sepik Provincial Member, Allan Bird named as alternative PM was refused due to defects.

The Opposition is confident that the motion had its defects rectified so PBC will allow it through.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister, James Marape said he is confident of overcoming the motion.

He said the Opposition lacks ‘numbers,’ adding his Loloata camp boasts of 74 MPs.
