POST COURIER TO DEAL WITH YOUNG REPORTER FOR POSTING FAKE NEWS ON LINKEDIN

To restore its image and public confidence, Post Courier management will deal with its young supplement writer.
The writer posted a fake news on Kumul 1 Falcon Jet being grounded in New York City due to aviation fuel shortage.
A LinkedIn post claimed the plane flew Prime Minister, James Marape to the UN General Assembly meeting but he boarded a commercial flight back to the country when the plane was grounded.
This fake news incited panic, confusion and attracted criticism against PM Marape last night.
Responding to disciplinary and apology calls made by fellow reporters, a senior journalist of the daily newspaper said on a media fraternity WhatsApp forum (PNG Journo): “Guys, PC (Post Courier) cannot admit something it did not publish on its official publication platforms.
“The young supplements writer will be dealt with. He posted on his walls/pages and will face the consequences of his actions by the company.Hope that gives you clarity.Top morning all.”
