PM Marape leads maiden drive on new Transnational Pangu Highway

Over 100 vehicles joined Prime Minister James Marape on his maiden drive from Port Moresby to Morobe Province via Gulf Province yesterday, marking a historic milestone for the country’s road connectivity.

PM Marape returned to the country last Saturday after attending the Pacific Islands Forum meeting in Palau and will lead the historic drive along the newly connected Transnational Highway.

NBC News reported last Saturday that the new Transnational Highway will be named the Pangu Highway, as the country prepares to celebrate its 51st Independence Anniversary.

The completion of the highway’s missing link has connected the Southern Region with the Momase and Highlands regions, opening a major new land transport corridor across the country.

A fully kitted Toyota Land Cruiser has been assigned to PM Marape for the journey, with a Starlink internet kit mounted on the vehicle to enable him to engage with online audiences while travelling along the road.
