K250 MILLION PAYMENT LIST IS FAKE: FINANCE MINISTER

Finance Minister, Miki Kaeok today clarified in Parliament that the K250 million payment list is fake.

He made the clarification when responding to a Question Without Notice on the subject matter by Kandep MP, Don Pomb Polye.

Polye queried whether or not the payment list stopped by the Ombudsman Commission for investigation is true.

Polye himself doubted such payment by Kaeok who is well versed with laws.

He is educated and a man of integrity, Polye observed, saying that Minister Kaeok is honest, a loyal friend and colleague whom they both served former Prime Minister, late Sir Michael Somare in different capacities when NA government was in power.

In responding to the question, the finance minister said it was not true.

Finance Minister Kaeok said that: “Finance Department is the implementation agency for the Government of Papua New Guinea.”

Finance Minister denied:

“I am not aware of that list. “I don’t know about that list.”

“I have never directed anybody for that matter to write a cheque to the list that is circulating in media,” Finance Minister said.

“I can’t explain here because the cheque list is not with me now but circulating in both social media and mainstream media.”

Finance Minister Kaeok calls on the Ombudsman Commission investigate it.

“As I Finance Minister, I don’t know about this cheque list, so I can’t talk further.”
