K3O MILLION MARAMUNI RURAL HOSPITAL PROJECT GOES TO TENDER

The long-awaited K30 million Maramuni Rural Hospital project in the remote Maramuni area of Wabag District, Enga Province, is now ready to go to public tender.

Wabag Open MP Hon. Dr. Lino Tom made the announcement, expressing gratitude and excitement over the project’s progress.

He confirmed that all documentation for the hospital has been completed and that the tender will be publicly advertised under the oversight of the Enga Provincial Health Authority and the Enga Provincial Government’s Procurement Commission.

Dr. Lino said the funding, which includes the full setup and medical equipment for the facility, was made possible through grant support from the Australian Government via the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

He recently met with ADB Deputy Project Manager and Infrastructure Development Specialist Nanda Maharjan, along with ADB Chief Architect Mrs. Pragati Maharjan, to confirm the next steps.

The new hospital will feature labor wards, laboratories, x-ray and emergency facilities, surgical procedure rooms, general wards, an incinerator, and fully equipped staff housing.

“This is a comprehensive rural hospital designed to meet the growing health needs of the people of Maramuni,” Dr. Lino said.

Roadworks leading into Maramuni are already underway to support the hospital project. All existing log bridges are being replaced with durable steel structures, with two bridges completed and a third nearing completion.

The second-term Opposition MP thanked all partners involved and reaffirmed the Wabag District Development Authority’s commitment to improving healthcare services in the region.
