WORK CONTINUES ON ALTERNATE ROAD TO KANDEP, LAGAIP & PORGERA-PAIELLA DISTRICTS

Work is continuing on the Sopas-Yokonda-Laiagam road, says Wabag MP Dr Lino Tom.

This road will connect Wabag to Lagaip, Kandep, and Porgera Paiella. It is an important road for the people of Enga.

Wabag MP Dr. Lino Tom gave an update on the project.

“This is an important road link. I believe it’s in the best interest of the people not only of Wabag, but the whole of Enga to know about this important road project and its progress,” he said.

Dr. Tom visited the road site in the recent past.

A senior machine operator named Steven, who is from Hela Province, showed him the progress.

Mr. Tom said workers are now fixing a steep section at Yulimandak.

“They are lowering the slope to make it easier for vehicles to pass.”

Dr. Tom said roads are very important for development.

“We will continue to build this road network to provide access to our people,” he said.

He also said they are following the 5-Year Development Plan.

“Our implementation rate is quite good. In fact, exceptionally well as per DIRD and reports from independent assessors,” he highlighted.

Gravel, Wabag MP said, is also being laid on the road, adding it should reach the current section in about a week.

When complete, he said, “This road will help people travel more easily and support development in Enga Province.”
