Loifa, Sir John and Dr Kobby sworn in as ministers without portfolio: Their portfolio announcement set for tomorrow: PM Marape

Kompiam-Ambum MP, Sir John Pundari, Menyamya MP Solen Loifa and Tewai-Siassi MP Dr Kobby Bomareo were sworn in by Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae as Ministers of State without portfolio at the Government House in Port Moresby this afternoon.

The ministries vacant are Housing and Urbanization, Works and Mining.

Prime Minister James Marape will announce the portfolios of three newly appointed ministers tomorrow morning.

Sir John and Loifa are members of the new Our Pati led by Morobe Governor Renbo Paita while Dr Kobby is a member of ruling Pangu Pati.

In a media conference after the swearing, PM Marape said the appointments reflect the coalition nature of the government and the need for political representation across different groupings.

Pam Marape said the government is reviewing the cabinet structure and considering potential reshuffling and portfolio reallocations based on strength, talent, and performance.
The Prime Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to the country, including:

■The government is reviewing the balance of this month and what is happening elsewhere in the government sector, with possible adjustments to be made.

■This year is a reset for the government, with substantial progress expected.

■The Deputy Prime Minister and Prime Minister will present scorecards to the people.

■Present ministers have been asked to provide updates on their health and report on what they have delivered to the country in 2025.

“I would like to commend them for their patience and, most importantly, their commitment to making our country a better place,” Prime Minister Marape said, welcoming the new ministers.
