The ruling Pangu Pati General Secretary Dogimai Morris Tovebae has praised PNG Parliament for passing the revised Organic Law on the Integrity of Political Parties and Candidates (OLIPPAC).

Mr. Tovebae said the new law is a major step forward for Papua New Guinea’s political landscape and economic development.
“The law will strengthen our country’s political party system; thus, political stability and investment confidence. It is also expected to improve political stability, support continuity in government, and help drive national development.”
Under the new law, all political party constitutions must follow OLIPPAC.
This means political parties will now be more organized and properly structured, no party hopping.
Parties will also be expected to play a stronger role in national development and maintain discipline and accountability.
Mr. Tovebae said this change will reduce instability in politics.
It will also make it easier for citizens to understand party positions and take part in the democratic process, he said.
He said Pangu Pati has worked closely with the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties and Candidates to support these reforms.
“The party is also making internal changes to meet the new requirements under the revised law.”
He thanked the Marape-Rosso Government for its commitment to the reforms.
He said the new law will help citizens better judge which political parties have the vision, ideas, and policies to lead the country.
Mr. Tovebae described the law as a major milestone.
He said it has taken 14 years to achieve.
He also paid tribute to key individuals who contributed to the reforms, including late Registrar Dr. Alphonse Gelu, and honored their legacy.
