National Capital District Governor, Powes Parkop has commended Police Minister Sir John Pundari and Police Commissioner David Manning for confirming Benjamin Turi as the permanent Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) for NCD and Central Province.
In a statement, Governor Parkop described the appointment as a timely and important step toward strengthening law and order in the region.

Governor Parkop said he welcomes the appointment on behalf of the people of the city and the NCD Commission and extended his sincere congratulations to ACP Turi on his well-deserved elevation.
“Ben Turi has now been confirmed as ACP NCD/Central by the Commissioner. I offer my congratulations on behalf of the city and the Commission and warmly welcome his appointment on a permanent basis,” Governor Parkop said.
He noted that following the removal of former ACP Anthony Wagambie, the NCD and Central command had been under interim leadership, which posed challenges for effectively addressing the region’s growing security concerns.
“With the absence of a permanent command, it has been difficult to maintain consistency in addressing the law-and-order challenges facing our region. This appointment now provides the stability needed to move forward decisively,” he said.
Governor Parkop emphasized that the confirmation of ACP Turi will enable authorities to develop and implement a comprehensive and coordinated security strategy for NCD and Central Province.
“With a permanent appointment in place, we can now work towards developing a strong, comprehensive security strategy and ensure its effective implementation, supported by stable police leadership,” he added.
He described ACP Turi as a highly capable and experienced officer who has risen through the ranks with dedication and professionalism.
“ACP Turi has proven himself to be an astute and effective commander. He has served this city with distinction-from his early days as a constable, to Police Station Commander, Metropolitan Superintendent, Acting ACP, and now as permanent ACP. He has come through the ranks and has truly earned this appointment,” Governor Parkop said.
Governor Parkop called on the people of NCD and Central Province to support ACP Turi in his new role.
“I encourage our communities across the city and Central Province to welcome his appointment and cooperate fully with him to deliver high standards of policing services for our region,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation to Police Commissioner Manning and Police Minister Sir John for their leadership and support in confirming the appointment.
“I thank Commissioner Manning and Minister Sir John Pundari for this important decision, which will contribute to improved safety and security for our people,” Governor Parkop said.
