Christians have been urged to remain steadfast in their faith despite life’s challenges, with a reminder that Jesus Christ will return to take believers to the heavenly home He has prepared for them.
Speaking on the Sabbath morning (30th of May) during a church service at the Sogavare Memorial SDA Church in Gerehu stage 6, Elder Eric Kipongi encouraged worshippers to trust in God during difficult times and focus on Christ’s promise of eternal life.

Drawing his message from John 14:1-3, he said believers should not allow their hearts to be troubled because Jesus has gone to prepare a place for His followers and will return again.
Elder Kipongi said faith in Christ remains the foundation of Christian living and provides hope, peace, and assurance amid trials, betrayals, and uncertainties experienced in life.
Recapping previous sermon series on “The Art of SDAs” and “The Essence of Life,” Elder Kipongi explained that human beings consist of both physical and spiritual elements, describing people as being formed from dust and spirit.
He reflected on events leading up to Christ’s crucifixion, referencing John 13 and the Lord’s Supper, where Jesus foretold His betrayal and predicted Peter’s denial. He noted that despite Peter’s confidence in his loyalty, Jesus knew the challenges that lay ahead.
Referring to John 14 as Christ’s farewell speech to His disciples, Elder Kipongi said Jesus understood what it meant to face trouble and sorrow.
He cited Christ’s prayer in Gethsemane, where Jesus confessed that His soul was deeply troubled but remained obedient to God’s will.
“Life is full of rainy and sunny seasons,” Elder Kipongi said, adding that Christians should not be discouraged when they face betrayal, hardship, or disappointment from those closest to them.
He told the congregation that true peace comes through the Holy Spirit, citing John 14:26. He said peace is a privilege given to Christians and is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Elder Kipongi also emphasized the importance of faith, describing belief in God as a core principle of Christian life. He referred to Christ’s words, “Believe in God; believe also in Me,” and encouraged believers to strengthen their trust in God.
Highlighting Christ’s promise in John 14, he outlined three key assurances for Christians: that Jesus has overcome the troubles of the world, that He has prepared many mansions in His Father’s house for believers, and that He will return again to receive His people unto Himself.
Quoting 2 Peter 3:9, Elder Kipongi reminded the congregation that God is faithful to His promises and that Christ’s second coming remains certain despite the passing of time.
He ended his sermon by urging Christians to continue walking faithfully with Christ and to remain hopeful as they await His return.
