The Department of Transport (DOT) has granted Solomon Airlines Limited an International Airline License to operate scheduled international air services between Honiara, Solomon Islands, and Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, following approval under the Civil Aviation Act 2000 (as amended).
The approval, endorsed by Transport Minister and Member for Wapenamanda, Miki Kaeok MP, is expected to strengthen aviation links, economic cooperation and connectivity between the two neighboring Melanesian countries.

The new route will provide greater opportunities for tourism, trade, business activities and people-to-people exchanges between Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands, he said in a statement.
Minister Kaeok welcomed Solomon Airlines’ entry into the route, saying increased regional air connectivity would deliver wider benefits for both nations.
The scheduled service is expected to improve travel options between the two countries while supporting closer regional integration and stronger ties within the Melanesian region.
