The competition will challenge participants over two days, beginning with virtual fault diagnosis before progressing to practical technical examinations.
Both stages will require a strong understanding of vehicle systems, accurate fault identification and the ability to apply technical knowledge under competitive conditions.
Stephen and Allan earned their places following a nationwide selection process involving Boroko Motors locations in Port Moresby, Lae, Mount Hagen, Goroka, Kokopo, Madang and Tabubil.
They advanced through multiple assessment stages to secure the opportunity to represent their company and country on the international stage.
Their achievement reflects the importance of continuous learning and professional development within the automotive industry.
Boroko Motors, under the leadership of General Manager Liza Marie Brooks, has continued to invest in developing its people and strengthening the technical capabilities of its national workforce.
A key part of this commitment is the BM Training Academy, established approximately one year ago and led by Manoj J, Head of National Training and Technical Support.
The Academy supports employee development through technical training, diagnostic capability building and structured learning opportunities designed to improve performance across the company’s operations.
Coach Otto Wouda will accompany Stephen and Allan to Japan, providing support as they prepare for the demands of the competition.
Participation in the event will expose the technicians to international practices, different diagnostic approaches and technical standards used across other markets.
The knowledge and experience gained will provide an opportunity to share new learning with colleagues, strengthen technical capability within Boroko Motors and contribute to improved service quality for customers throughout Papua New Guinea.
For Stephen and Allan, the competition represents an opportunity to demonstrate their individual skills while contributing to the wider recognition of Papua New Guinea’s automotive workforce.
Their participation also highlights the potential of national employees when supported through training, practical experience and opportunities for professional advancement.
Boroko Motors said in a statement that it remains committed to developing capable national employees who can meet evolving industry requirements and contribute to the country’s future.
Stephen and Allan’s participation in Japan is an important milestone in that commitment and an opportunity to showcase Papua New Guinean talent before an international audience.
