The two Engan knights, Sir Peter Ipatas and Sir John Pundari yesterday met for the first time in Port Moresby and have put aside political differences for the good of the province and entire country.
Sir Peter the Governor for Enga while Sir John is local MP for Kompiam-Ambum and now the Police Minister.
Witnessed by former Kandep MP Don Polye and other Engan leaders, the duo pledged to work together as one to resolve the sea of lawlessness across the province.
It was a rare moment for them in Port Moresby yesterday.
Sir Peter sponsored a team of candidates called 7 in 1 against Sir John in the last elections. The latter reciprocated the same rallying behind the regional candidates. However, Sir John had lost his village and essential government services to the tune of millions of Kina. The destruction accounts for his own permanent house, a high school, health centre and a missionary college amongst others.
Police Minister Sir John said Enga moves forward now under a new light with optimism, as they join hands to remove illegal firearms from the province and bring safety and security back to the people.
“Each Province has its on social issues and challenges,” he said.
“I will further consult with all Governors and leaders to find the best options of corporation in policing efforts.”
