“The PNG Barramundis have made us proud through their commitment and unity.”

“Their success is a shining example of what can be achieved when we strive together as one nation,” Governor Parkop said in a statement.

Governor Parkop underscored that the PNG Barramundis players are mostly from Port Moresby, particularly the Motu Koita, coastal Motuan village of Hanuabada.

And Hanuabada is considered the heartland of PNG cricket.

He highlighted the historic achievement of four players-Tony Ura, Lega Siaka, Sese Bau, and John Kariko being named in the Tournament Best 12, the highest representation by any team in the competition.

“This is a proud moment for our city, and our nation a testament to the growing strength of cricket in PNG.”

“The recognition of our players reflects not only their personal dedication and hard work but also the collective strength of the Barramundis team,” Governor Parkop added.

On behalf of the people of NCD, Governor Parkop congratulated the players, coaching staff, Cricket PNG, supporters, and families who continue to stand firmly behind the national team.

He emphasized the unifying power of sport, noting that the Barramundis’ achievements inspire young Papua New Guineans to pursue excellence, discipline, and national pride.

“As the team returns home to Port Moresby today, we welcome them warmly and thank them for representing our nation with honor and distinction.”

“Your achievements have brought immense pride and excitement to our people,” he said.

Governor Parkop called on all Papua New Guineans in Port Moresby to congratulate and continue supporting the Barramundis as they progress toward the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

“Congratulations once again to the PNG Barramundis, the city and the nation celebrate with you.”
