The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) unequivocally condemns the actions of a Facebook page operating under the name PNG – Anti Corruption Blog” for falsely impersonating the ICAC, issuing and publishing fraudulent statements, and unlawfully using the ICAC branding without authorization.
On 28 December in 2025, this page deliberately published two statements falsely presented as official ICAC releases, titled “ICAC Confirms Investigation into Allegations Against Leon Hardware Limited and Related Parties for Serious Corruption and Conspiracy Offences” and “To Chinese Companies Operating in Papua New Guinea: Cooperate Fully with Tax Authorities and Uphold the Law.”
Acting Deputy Commissioner for ICAC, Retired Judge Don Sawong in a statement released today said these statements are entirely false, unauthorized, and did not originate from the ICAC.
Sawong is the deputy commissioner responsible for Prevention and Corporate arm of ICAC.
The ICAC has not confirmed, announced, or publicized any investigations in the manner claimed, said Mr. Sawong.
“The publication of such statements constitutes a serious act of deception, is grossly misleading to the public, and has the potential to cause significant reputational, legal, and commercial harm to individuals, companies, and institutions.
The unauthorized use of the ICAC’s name, logo, and visual identity is a clear abuse of public trust and will not be tolerated. Such conduct undermines the integrity of the Commission, interferes with lawful processes, and risks eroding public confidence in Papua New Guinea’s anti-corruption framework,” he said.
Mr. Sawong warned the operators of this Facebook page to immediately cease and desist from:
• Impersonating the ICAC in any form.
• Publishing false or misleading statements purporting to represent the Commission; and,
• Using the ICAC branding, logos, or identifiers without lawful authority.
The ICAC reserves it’s right to take appropriate legal and regulatory action in response to this conduct, including referral to relevant authorities where necessary.
The public is strongly advised to disregard any content published by this Facebook page or any other platforms falsely claiming to represent the ICAC, and to rely only on the ICAC’s official communication channels below for accurate and verified information.

The ICAC will act decisively against any attempt to mislead the public or exploit the Commission’s authority.
