“It was a decision made by the government of the day, and I hold no grudges,” he said.
In an interview with PNG SUN yesterday, Mr. Nepo said he had been serving in the acting role since July 5, 2024, when he was first appointed.
He commended the Marape-Rosso Government and the Ministry for Correctional Services for the trust and confidence they had placed in him during his tenure.
Mr. Nepo said his reputation had been dragged through the mud by individuals seeking personal gain while he was leading the organization.
He added that he comes from the “old school” and does not have a strong presence on digital platforms.
Mr. Nepo also distanced himself from smear campaigns being conducted against other individuals using his name.
The official handover-takeover ceremony is scheduled to be held today.
