PNG Prime Minister James Marape left the country this afternoon for the PNG Investment Week in Australia’s Sydney where he will be presenting a strong economic case to the international investors at the International Convention Centre.

PM Marape was addressing the local media at the APEC VIP Terminal at Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby.
Prime Minister Marape said the main goal for the trip was to present a strong economic case to international investors in Brisbane and Sydney.
He focused on four main points for the nation’s pitch:
●Investment Opportunities: He will detail Papua New Guinea’s positive economic forecasts and stable business environment. This information is meant to encourage foreign companies to invest capital across all sectors.
●Trip Schedule: He covered his plans for the Investment Week, which ends on December 11. A key part of the schedule is a special joint speech he will give with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
●Big Projects: He provided updates on key large-scale resource projects. These include the Papua LNG gas project and the restart of the Porgera mine. These multi-billion kina initiatives are the biggest draws for the international investment community.
●Memorandum of Agreement (MoA): An MoA will be signed between PNG and Brisbane to foster a closer partnership.

The Prime Minister assured the people of PNG that the government is committed to the 2025 budget and its delivery in 2026.
PM Marape also called for the people to have regular medical checks because the country is experiencing a rise in short illnesses.
Marape concluded by saying that as 2025 comes to an end, people should take care of themselves during the Christmas period.
Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso will relieve PM Marape in the latter’s absence.
