POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL SHOOTING OF FEMALE ACCOUNTANT AT WAIGANI

NCD Police have launched an investigation following the alleged fatal shooting of a young female accountant at the North Waigani bus stop yesterday.

The victim, identified as Sandy Purel of Southern Highlands, was reportedly shot by a police officer during an operation to disperse street vendors using open fires.

The incident has sparked public outrage and raised concerns over the use of force by law enforcement.

Metropolitan Superintendent, Silva Sika confirmed that the officer involved has voluntarily surrendered to authorities and is now in custody as investigations continue.

Police teams remain at the scene (pictured) gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
