PNG Electoral Commission will be going out to each Local Level Government (LLGs) and wards nationwide to update the Electoral Roll before the 2027 National General Election commences, according to acting Electoral Commissioner Margaret Vagi.
This voter enrolment program is to make sure eligible electors are registered and have their correct details on their ward electoral roll in order to exercise their democratic rights to vote, said Mrs. Vagi.

“PNG Electoral Commission’s voter enrolment is different from the registration exercise conducted by the National Identification Card program (NID) under the office of Civil and Identity Registry, and the National Census program by the National Statistical Office (NSO),” she said in a statement.
PNGEC’s voter enrolment registration is for election purposes only, she said.
“The enrolment agents will register new eligible voters who are 18 years and above, including those who are 17 years of age in 2026 and will turn 18 before the issue of writ in 2027.
“Citizens must reside within their wards for six months or more and must enroll at that particular ward only,” said Mrs. Vagi.
She continued that voters who are on the Electoral Roll should check their names and details to confirm or update when the enrolment team visits their wards.
“The full rollout of the Electoral Roll update program will be conducted from May to October 2026.”
“You have the right to vote, and it is your responsibility to check your name and details on the electoral roll in order to exercise your democratic right to vote in the 2027 National General Election,” said Mrs. Vagi.
“You cannot vote in the 2027 General Election if your name is not registered on the Electoral Roll.”
