The new electorates include Motu Koita (NCD), Baniara (Milne Bay), Baining (East New Britain), Middle Sepik (East Sepik), Mendi Central (SHP), and Anglimp (Jiwaka).

Mrs. Vagi said consultations are underway with affected communities and provincial administrations to ensure readiness.

In a local news report, she stressed that strong collaboration at national and provincial levels will be critical to the success of the 2027 polls, particularly in managing operations in the new electorates.

Key priorities include updating the electoral roll, strengthening voter identification, and procuring election materials within the year.

Mrs. Vagi said K50 million has already been allocated for preparatory work.

She added that the next phase will involve formalizing roles and responsibilities with provincial authorities to ensure resources are effectively delivered where needed.
