The Wapenamanda District Development Authority (DDA) has paid K131,000 in school fee subsidies for Wapenamanda students attending Port Moresby Business College.
This reaffirmed the DDA’s commitment to education as a key priority under the Kaeok Administration.
The funding will assist students with outstanding tuition fees for the second semester while easing the financial burden on parents and guardians struggling to meet education costs.
Wapenamanda MP, Minister for Transport and Vice Minister for Works and Highways Miki Kaeok said investing in education remains one of the district’s highest priorities because it provides young people with opportunities to build better futures.
He said students are valuable assets to their communities and supporting their education is also an investment in the families who make sacrifices to ensure their children succeed.
“The school fee assistance forms part of the Wapenamanda DDA’s ongoing education support programme, which encourages students to remain focused on their studies, develop strong character, respect their parents and prepare themselves to become future leaders and professionals,” he said.
The K131,000 cheque was presented by Wapenamanda District Chief Executive Officer Kevin Yati, accompanied by Students’ Coordinator Team Leader Jonah Kaeok and Lungupin Puritai Ramsey Kaitas.
Minister Kaeok said continued investment in education is aimed at empowering students, supporting families and developing the next generation of leaders for Wapenamanda District.
