NYDA CONTINUES YOUTH MOBILISATION AND EMPOWERMENT MOVEMENT: NIPA-KUTUBU SETS UP FOUR YOUTH COUNCILS

The National Youth Development Authority (NYDA) continues mobilizing and empowering youths to the forefront, so they participate meaningfully in decision making and leadership roles through the national mechanism of youth council establishment activity.
Last week, the Santos Foundation and Nipa-Kutubu District Development Authority (DDA) in collaboration with NYDA launched four (4) established youth councils.
They compose of Nipa Basin, Nembi Plateau, Poroma and Mt Bosavi.
The fifth Kutubu Local Youth Council was established last year.
This brings the total of 5 local youth development councils fully established in the district.
Commenting on the launching, NYDA Director-General Joe Itaki said: “The formation of the local youth Council is a significant step towards youth empowerment aimed at enhancing youth mobilization to address socio-economic challenges in remote areas.”
The local youth councils were formally recognized, and youth leaders commissioned by Senior Provincial Magistrate of SHP, Mr. Cosmos Inkisopo.
He urged the young leaders to “serve without fear or favor” and strongly emphasized integrity in service.
The NKDDA outlined focused areas for youth development in education, sustainable agriculture, and sports.
The CEO for NKDDA, Camillus Ombalo urged young leaders to honor their commitments in their leadership roles in driving development in the district.
This program was supported and funded by Santos Foundation and NKDDA.
Mr. Itaki said NYDA acknowledged the continued support rendered by Santos Foundation beginning with Kutubu local area which has now been widened to all 4 LLGs.
The local youth councils, DG Itaki said, aim to provide a platform for youth to actively contribute to their communities in areas of decision-making, upholding law and order, education and community development.
