Civil works for Maramuni Health Centre project start

Civil works for K30 million worth Maramuni Health Centre project in Wabag Electorate of Enga have started already, a reliable source from the contractor, Cost Guide (PNG) Limited has told our reporter.

This subject was also debated widely on social media sites with many expressing views in favour of the airstrip demolition, making way for the hospital project. It has been cited in the debates that Wabag Town is now located on a former colonial airstrip. Some say sacrifices are made in the name of development with Maramuni receiving the significant project after 50 years; thus, the demolition of historic airstrip.
He said the ADB-funded project in collaboration with Wabag Disrrict Development Authority (WDDA) will be completed before the 2027 General Elections.
The project comes in three stages:
1. Civil works;
2. Construction of outpatient, accident and emergency block, and;
3. Staff houses and ablution blocks.

The hospital, when completed, will complement the newly-constructed Enga-Sepik Highway and proposed Maramuni Township plan.
