The Oro Rugby Football League Association (Oro RFLA) has successfully concluded its official launch, along with all administrative formalities.

The official launch was further complemented by an energetic live performance from Wantoks Band, adding excitement and cultural flair to the occasion.

Support from the corporate sector was also evident, with Vodafone PNG’s Popondetta branch providing merchandise for Oro RFLA executives during the launch.

Following the successful event, Oro RFLA executives convened an urgent meeting to ensure full compliance with requirements set by the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL), reinforcing their commitment to proper governance and competition standards.

The association has also reported a positive response from the corporate sector, with further partnership announcements expected to be disclosed once formal processes are completed.

Oro RFLA is now calling on women across the province to step forward and be part of the growing rugby league family, as inclusivity remains a key focus moving forward.

Looking ahead, the association anticipates kicking off its 2026 season on April 25 with a two-day 9s round-robin trial.

Plans are also underway to include four Under-19 and four Under-17 teams in this year’s competition, signaling a strong push towards youth development in the province.

The successful launch sets the foundation for what is expected to be a promising season for rugby league in Oro.
